The Lotus Flower starts deep in the mud. It struggles in the darkness and grows. Through the mud, the darker and then lighter waters, until it reaches the surface and blooms...no trace of all it has gone through to get there. Without the mud, the lotus would not be able to be nourished and grow at all. This is a metaphor for your growth. All that you've been through, all your struggles...they weren't put in your life to break or discourage you. They were put there for you to grow through and to become a beautiful lotus.
